Here is a great way to start composting - with a composting bin!

Narberth Greens regularly receives inquiries about composting bins and rain barrels. For those still in need, Helen Peachy from Master Gardeners will be ordering the composting bins in bulk (and maybe rain barrels too) if there is enough demand. Check out
this link for more about composting in the Narberth Greens Energy Challenge!

From Helen:

"The Master Gardeners of Montgomery has been providing composting education to various groups for a number of years in cooperation with a  program funded by the State of Pa and the DEP in cooperation with the Penn State Extension office.  Up until now we have been able to get 100 free bins to dispense to Mont. Co. residents.  However, the free bin program may be discontinued due to funding cuts.

We would be able to order bins in bulk for a cost of $35 each.  There is also a rain barrel that the company makes that we could buy in bulk for $65.
The products are made by a Canadian company called Norsemen.  The bin is called the Earth Machine and the rain barrel is called the Sistern.  You can google them to have a look at their products.
They would be delivered in late May, 2010. Master Gardeners could provide composting education at no cost for those interested in buying the bins and or rain barrels.

We will be placing the bulk order October 1.  If you are interested we would need your money prior to this date.  Please contact Helen Peachey at peacheyh@mail.med.upenn.edu or at 610-664-0478 for more information."
