Over the past year, Narberth Greens has been hard at work creating two Climate Action Plans: one tailored to the Narberth Borough, and one tailored to the Narberth Community. While the Borough has been working to reduce emissions since February 2008, it’s time to mobilize the community!

We have created this document to educate and inspire the Narberth community to action. Inside, you will discover how to join forces with your neighbors to reduce your carbon footprint. The "actions" section of this document outlines 10 relatively simple and fun actions you can take to make our collective world a better place, starting here in Narberth. These actions were designed to make your home-life run a little smoother and to save you money.

At the April 18, 2009 NarbEarth Day celebration, we will kick off this initiative. While the scope of the project is 30 days for monitoring and measurement purposes, the changes outlined are to be approached as permanent lifestyle changes. If 200 households (approx. 10% of Narberth’s households) participate in these actions for one year, we will prevent almost 2,000,000 pounds of carbon dioxide from entering our atmosphere. This reduces Narberth’s residential energy use by approximately 5%. If all of Narberth participate in only these 10 actions we would save 17,000,000 million pounds of carbon emissions per year!

The Community Energy Challenge will be released to the community at large starting on NarbEarth Day: April 18, 2009. Presently, the Narberth Greens' Energy Challenge Captains are testing it in their homes so that they can best help their friends and neighbors implement the Challenge. If you would like to sign up to participate in the Energy Challenge starting on April 18, please email
NarberthGreens@gmail.com and we will connect you with an energy captain closest to your home.
