A Compost Pile!
Did you know that your leftover fruits and vegetables form
the perfect recipe for the richest soil your garden will
ever see?
Advice from a fellow Narberthian about compost - Susan
Cannon:
"I am so lax. We keep a canister on the sink
and empty all kitchen scraps (no meat, fats, watermelon
rind, or corn cobs because they take too long and mess up
the heap) into the canister. Whoever feels saintly takes it
to the backyard to dump into the 3 x 3 x 3 plastic compost
heap (which we purchased from a gardening center online).
We dump leaves or grass clippings in there from time to
time, and also add a bio-accelerator (from Ricklin's or
Albrecht's) from time to time if the pile starts to smell.
About once a year, we "turn the pile" with a pitchfork to
get gorgeous black humus/dirt for the garden. No problem
with animals at all in several years.
Cheers,
Sue"

Amazon.com. She also recommends Composting your Garbage.
Have a compost party! If you would like to get a group
together to learn more about composting, Avi Fox and Sue
Cannon would be happy to set up a composting tutorial.
